Future Forum PAC Endorses Adrian Boafo (MD-05) in Open Congressional Seat

Young Maryland Legislator Focused on Affordability, Housing, and Economic Opportunity Earns Support of Group Dedicated to Electing the Next Generation of Democratic Leaders

WASHINGTON – Future Forum PAC – the political arm of Future Forum, a caucus of House Democrats aged 50 and under focused on elevating the issues of young Americans – announced its endorsement of Maryland State Delegate Adrian Boafo in Maryland's Fifth Congressional District Democratic primary.

Boafo, a Bowie native and current Maryland State Delegate, is running to succeed retiring Congressman Steny Hoyer in one of the nation's most closely watched open-seat Democratic primaries.

“Future Forum PAC is proud to endorse Adrian Boafo for Congress,” said Future Forum PAC. “Too many young Americans feel like the promise of hard work leading to opportunity is slipping away. Homeownership is out of reach, wages are out of step with the cost of living, and too many young people don’t believe they'll have the same opportunities their parents did. Adrian understands these challenges because he has lived them and has spent his career fighting to fix them.

“As a young legislator, Adrian has focused on tackling the affordability crisis, expanding pathways to homeownership, and standing up for opportunities for young people. Maryland's Fifth District deserves a representative who understands the challenges facing the next generation and has the energy, vision, and record to deliver results.”

"We're at a critical inflection point in our country's history, where now more than ever proximity to policy matters," says Adrian Boafo. "When elected, I will be the youngest member of Congress in Maryland since Reconstruction, and I understand the importance of young people having a seat at the table. I will continue to be a strong advocate for policies that uplift young Americans as they strive to achieve the American Dream. That means policies that make our country more affordable, that make health care accessible and affordable, and that create pathways to wealth for all Americans. I am honored to have the endorsement of Future Forum PAC."

Future Forum PAC works to elect young Americans to Congress, providing financial and strategic support to its endorsed candidates. With Millennials and post-Millennials now making up more than half of the U.S. population – and with Millennials overtaking Baby Boomers as the largest generational voting demographic – Future Forum PAC's role in elevating and empowering young Americans in the political process continues to grow in importance and power. The PAC board is governed by Rep. Gabe Amo, Rep. Janelle Bynum, Rep. Morgan McGarvey, Rep. Sarah Elfreth, Rep. Johnny Olszewski, and Rep. Brittany Pettersen.

About the Future Forum PAC Endorsed Candidate:

Adrian Boafo (MD-05)

Adrian Boafo is a lifelong Marylander, the son of immigrants from Ghana, and a member of a new generation of leaders committed to making government work for working families. Raised in Prince George's County, Adrian learned the values of hard work, service, and community from an early age. He attended DeMatha Catholic High School and went on to the University of Baltimore, where he became the first Black President of the Student Government Association and advocated for reforms to expand mental health services and make higher education more affordable.

Adrian began his career serving Maryland's Fifth Congressional District while working for Congressman Steny Hoyer, gaining firsthand experience helping constituents navigate challenges and seeing how effective leadership can improve people's lives. At age 25, Adrian challenged and defeated an incumbent to win a seat on the Bowie City Council, later serving as Mayor Pro Tem. There, he helped secure funding to replace aging water infrastructure, supported job-creating development projects, and worked to guide his community through the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, voters elected Adrian to the Maryland House of Delegates, where he quickly built a reputation as a results-oriented legislator focused on the issues facing younger generations. He successfully passed legislation expanding access to mental health care for college students, strengthened protections against wage theft, and led efforts to address housing affordability, including preventing large institutional investors from pricing families out of the housing market. He has also championed policies to improve educational outcomes and lower costs for working families.

As one of Maryland's youngest elected leaders, Adrian understands the challenges facing younger generations and has focused his public service on ensuring more Americans can afford to build a life, buy a home, and get ahead.
